The base alone doesn't program: it needs the adapter for the computer you're working on.

The base cable is half of the CTS bench system: it powers the ECM and connects your diagnostic interface. You buy it once and it works with every CTS adapter, starting with the Detroit DDEC III/IV adapter.

  • Power: red and black battery clamps
  • Ignition switch: turns the ECM on and off like the truck key
  • Diagnostics: round 9-pin connector for your interface, with J1939 and J1708/J1587 (pins C-D and F-G)
  • Output: gray connector that takes the adapter for each ECM
  • Protection: braided sleeve and heat shrink at every split

On its own it does not program any ECM: you need the adapter for the ECM you are working on. Buy the base and the adapter together and pay $249: the $49 comes off automatically in the cart.

How it works
  1. Plug the adapter into the ECM and into the base cable.
  2. Clip the leads to a 12 V battery or power supply and turn on the ignition switch.
  3. Connect your interface (Nexiq USB-Link, DLA+ or any RP1210 adapter) to the round 9-pin diagnostic connector.
  4. Open your programming software and work the ECM on the bench, no truck needed. When the software asks you to cycle the key, use the same switch.

  • The communication interface (Nexiq, DLA+ or other)
  • Programming software or its licenses
  • The battery or power supply, or the ECM
