The harness that brings your Series 60 12.7's electronics back to life

This is the engine harness for the Detroit Diesel Series 60 12.7L with a DDEC IV ECM: the wiring that connects the ECM to the engine sensors. It is a direct replacement for the original harness, built by CTS in Houston to OEM-spec quality — part of our CTS Precision Series™ line.

After 20+ years of heat, oil and vibration, the original harness on these engines is one of the most common causes of "ghost" electrical failures. If your truck shows any of these symptoms, the harness is the first suspect:

  • Sensor codes that come and go for no reason
  • Erratic temperature, oil pressure or coolant readings
  • Engine derates or an intermittent check engine that "fixes itself"
  • Wire insulation that is dry, cracked or peeling near the engine
  • Stacked splices and repairs from previous owners

A harness patched splice over splice is never reliable again. A complete replacement eliminates the problem at the root — and saves you weeks of chasing bad contacts.

🔌 What this harness connects

It is the harness that links the DDEC IV ECM to the engine sensors of the Series 60 12.7L, with the correct connectors for the factory configuration. Every unit is built against the DDEC IV diagram and verified pin to pin before leaving the laboratory.

Want to confirm it covers exactly the circuits of your configuration? Send us a photo of your current harness or ECM on WhatsApp and we will confirm before you buy.

✅ Who this harness is for
  • Owner-operators with a Series 60 12.7 who have spent months chasing intermittent electrical faults
  • Shops rebuilding or reconditioning Series 60 engines that want to deliver with fresh wiring
  • Fleets with DDEC IV units that want to eliminate sensor faults at the root
  • Anyone who already spent money on new sensors and the fault is still there — because the problem was the wire, not the sensor
🔥 Why this harness lasts

An engine harness lives against the heat of the Series 60, splashed with oil and vibrating 24/7. Cheap harnesses fail for the same three reasons: the insulation dries out, cracks from heat, or peels where it touches fluids.

  • SAE J1128-certified automotive wire — the same technical grade as our swap harnesses
  • Terminals crimped with calibrated tooling and verified pull-test
  • Corrugated loom + heat shrink at branch points
  • Pin-to-pin continuity verified against the DDEC IV diagram
  • SKU and version marked on the harness + quality inspection certificate (QC pass)

It is not the cheapest wire on the market. It is the right wire for the job.

❓ Frequently asked questions

Does it include the injector harness?
No. This is the engine (sensor) harness. The injector sub-harness is a separate part — message us on WhatsApp if you also need it.

Does it work with DDEC III or DDEC V?
This harness is specific to DDEC IV. If you have DDEC III or DDEC V, contact us and we will confirm availability.

Does it fit my truck?
If your truck has the factory Series 60 12.7L with DDEC IV — whether Freightliner, Western Star, Kenworth or Peterbilt — this harness fits by engine. If in doubt, send us a photo of the ECM or your current harness on WhatsApp.

Is this an original Detroit OEM harness?
It is an OEM-spec harness built by CTS: same functions and connectors as the original, with SAE J1128-certified automotive wire and pin-to-pin verification — at a fraction of dealer price.

What if it arrives with a defect?
